A2L 2026 Quote Workflow Wizard

What it does. Walks the tech through the 7-step 2026 A2L mini-split quote workflow and produces a printable compliance summary documenting the reasoning for the AHJ inspector.

A2L 2026 Quote Workflow Wizard

7 steps · ASHRAE 15-2022 · UL 60335-2-40
Step 1 of 7

Detailed Overview

The A2L 2026 Quote Workflow Wizard turns the seven-step quote process from the HKIA A2L Mitigation series into a guided digital workflow. The output is a print-ready compliance summary the tech can attach to the customer proposal and hand to the AHJ inspector.

The Seven Steps

  1. Rooms. Measure every zone. Smallest room sets the constraint.
  2. Equipment. Pull manufacturer specs. Verify factory charge, refrigerant, additional charge per foot of lineset.
  3. Compliance. Per-room PASS/FAIL math against ASHRAE 15 RCL limits.
  4. Ducted Option. Evaluate the central air handler + zoning alternative.
  5. Free Design. Request manufacturer engineering (Airzone, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Carrier all design for free with the right inputs).
  6. Quote Options. Build the three-option structured comparison the homeowner will see.
  7. Document. Produce the printable compliance summary.

When and Where to Use It

  • During the site visit. Walk the rooms, enter dimensions, capture the homeowner’s input on duct path feasibility, request manufacturer design over the phone, all in the same session.
  • Quote preparation. Generate the documented compliance summary as an attachment to the proposal.
  • Inspector / AHJ submission. AHJs adopting ASHRAE 15-2022 and UL 60335-2-40 are starting to ask for documented compliance reasoning. The Step 7 summary is that document.
  • Internal training. New estimators can follow the Wizard’s structure to learn the workflow without missing a step.
  • Sales conversation. Walk the homeowner through the steps live so they understand why three options are being quoted and which is the default-compliant choice.

Output Document

The Step 7 printable summary includes:

  • Job header. Customer name, address, prepared-by line, generation date.
  • Proposed equipment. Outdoor unit model, refrigerant, RCL value, releasable charge, shut-off valve kit status.
  • Per-room dispersal volume table. Room name, volume (ft³), RCL limit (lb), PASS/FAIL status.
  • Three-option comparison table. Multi-zone wall-mount / Central ducted with zoning / Single-zone 1-to-1, each with compliance status and contractor notes.
  • References footer. ASHRAE 15-2022, ASHRAE 34-2022, UL 60335-2-40, AHRI A2L Building Code Map, EPA Final Rule SAN-12166.

Limitations

  • The Wizard does not retain state across sessions. Each session starts fresh. To preserve a quote, use the Step 7 print or copy-to-clipboard outputs.
  • The output summary is documented compliance reasoning, not a substitute for actual code review. AHJs may require additional documentation depending on the jurisdiction.
  • The Wizard assumes residential A2L mini-split applications. Commercial and VRF applications have additional requirements not covered.
